Family Sponsorship

Spouse Or Common Law Partner Sponsorship

Under current immigration programs, Canadian citizens or permanent residents are eligible to sponsor their spouses for Canadian immigration. When married, a person can sponsor their spouse for Canadian permanent residence. For common-law partners, a person can sponsor their partner for Canadian permanent residence if the couple meets Canada’s definition of legal common-law partnership.

Child Or Dependant Sponsorship

Canada’s immigration system enables most parents to sponsor their children and other legal dependants for permanent residence .
When you apply to immigrate to Canada as a permanent immigrant, or to work, study or visit, you may be able to include dependent children on your application. Children qualify as dependants if they are under 22 years old and don’t have a spouse or partner.

Parent And Grandparent Sponsorship

If your child is over 18 years old and is a Canadian permanent resident or citizen and can financially support you to come to Canada, such individuals can sponsor you through the Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship program (PGP).
The program currently functions on a lottery style system, wherein applicants details are submitted when the program is open. Later, IRCC randomly selects 10,000 applicants to invite to apply to the PGP.

Super Visa

A Super Visa is an alternative for people who are not eligible for the lottery style system, it is a multiple re-entry visa valid for up to 10 years, allowing parents or grandparents to come and go from Canada as they please.
